Dedicated to keeping live theater accessible and affordable.
INTRODUCTION TO THE COMPANY ONSTAGE, INC.
The Company OnStage, Inc. (COS) , is a Texas non profit corporation with tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; it operates as a community theater with a season of ten productions for children and adults each year. Since its founding in 1978, COS has had the following organizational purposes and goals:
-
To provide the community with quality theatrical productions at an affordable price.
-
To encourage participation in theater by the community.
-
To increase awareness and appreciation of the theatrical arts.
-
To provide citizens of all ages and backgrounds with an opportunity to develop theatrical talents by participation in acting and other technical aspects of theater.
MISSION STATEMENT:
The Company OnStage serves the community by offering professional quality performances of contemporary and classic theater for children and adults in an intimate setting at affordable prices. COS provides the opportunity for everyone in the community to participate in theater by attending performances, taking classes, or volunteering for all phases of production.
CONTRIBUTORS:
As a result of the generosity of its season ticket holders and volunteers, Company OnStage receives matching donations from ExxonMobil Foundation, ChevronTexaco Foundation and Hewlett-Packard Corporation. Each season, COS receives donations from a growing number of private individuals whose names are published in the evening series programs.
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY:
The Company OnStage has also contributed back to the community in many ways. It has offered ordinary people the opportunity to develop their artistic and technical theater talents and introduced children and adults to the theatrical arts. The children's theater performances offer many children their first experience with live theater. COS has taken its children's performances to the Children’s Museum of Houston, The Center, and B.C. Elmore Middle School - the "adopted school" of the Houston Bar Association. Each season, COS donates hundreds of complimentary tickets to performances of all its productions to area schools and non-profit organizations.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
The Company OnStage has an all volunteer, working Board of Directors. All Board members and officers of the corporation manage and participate in every aspect of the theater's operation including acting, directing, stage managing, set construction, reservations, box office management, web site design, and season ticket and group sales.
